We're helping the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the world's leading independent environmental organisation, to promote a new online game about the upcoming G8 Summit, where leaders of the world's richest and most powerful countries meet to discuss the pressing global issues facing the world today.
The South Park style ‘Face the G8' online game, created by our mates at Playgroup, is for anyone who has lost hope in politicians and global leaders which, let's face it, is probably anyone with a pulse.
Face the G8 gives us all a chance to let the G8 leaders know that we are aware of the summit and the climate change and economic issues that are at stake.
The game invites users to see if they can do better than the politicians by joining the likes of Barack Obama, Gordon Brown and Nicolas Sarkozy to form the ‘G9', run a campaign and make policy decisions based on advice given in the game. Users are rewarded with an animated clip which shows the impact of their policy decision making.
The game makes good use of social media by allowing users to create their own personalised campaign posters which can be uploaded to the ‘Face the G8 photostream' on Flickr. WWF will use these posters to pressure the real G8 to support the Global Climate Deal by projecting them on the building in Rome where the G8 summit will take place or creating a billboard featuring the posters. Users can also check out a WWF video of the game on YouTube and share details about the game from their Facebook profile.
Add your voice, join the debate and make sure that climate change is top of the agenda.
