The, er, printed blog
The, er, printed blog

Let’s be frank, print media is a beleaguered industry, shrinking in the face of an economic financial meltdown, smaller ad revenues and today’s consumer turning online.

So we were intrigued to find out that one US start up is trying to buck this trend with the publication of a regional user generated type newspaper that functions like a web feed made specifically for today’s online consumer.

Think of a newspaper released twice-daily in hundreds of unique editions across the country comprised entirely of blogs and other user generated content and you have The Printed Blog.

We think it’s a great way for users to get involved in the creation of local news, a bit like the way social network platforms allow consumers to come together, form communities and discuss the zeitgeist.

Whilst such publications provide a much needed shot in the arm for editors of traditional print media, whether The Printed Blog is anything more than an experiment in redefining the traditional print model remains to be seen.

Why not follow their progress via a company blog, Facebook group, Flickr page and Twitter feed.
